Known as “embroidery village of China”, Zhenhu Sub-district in Suzhou National New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone is the birthplace and major place of origin of Suzhou embroidery.
The story of 8,000 female embroiderers was popular for a time, while new creative concept, operation mode and service form provide this riverside district with transformation and upgrading opportunities.
Sales of Yunfan Flagship Store (a brand of Suzhou embroidery in Zhenhu) on Jingdong were only 20,000 plus yuan (US$3,128) during the first half year of opening, which cannot afford to finish even one embroidery work. With the establishment of copyright license trading platform of Suzhou embroidery, a series of traditional embroidery patents, such as Didi embroidery stitches, have been issued, and Suzhou embroidery in Zhenhu has begun to develop e-commerce.
Suzhou embroidery in Zhenhu has transformed and upgraded its development modes several times, from outward processing scattered, through embroidery shops in front and factories at back and windows to display embroidery – “one district, one hall, one center”, to e-commerce platform nowadays.
