The Discovery Channel will make five documentaries about Nanjing, which are set to be broadcast in Sep 2014, according to sources on Dec 17.

Zhang Fang, senior vice president of Discovery Network of Asia Pacific (DNAP), introduced that this is the first time for Discovery to make a documentary about a city in 18 years. It is hoped this documentary will introduce a lively Nanjing to the world and raise the public awareness of varied city cultures.

Five directors are hunted across Asia while the subjects of the documentary are not limited – construction, technology, design, culture or food, all is OK, only if it is from creative perspectives. Discovery Channel hopes more young people can join the making of the documentary. Zhang Fang said, “Young people look at things from fresh perspectives and are good at showcasing the culture of Nanjing city through unexpected subjects.”
