Over 20 students from Nanjing Forestry University created beautiful wall paintings for the elderly in Meiyuan Retirement House, an old people’s home on Beijing East Road of Nanjing, on the morning of Apr 13.

Some drew trees, leaves and sunflowers on the corridor walls while others painted cartoon characters of fruits and vegetables on the room walls.
“Though many volunteers come to the retirement house to perform for and chat with the elderly, but when the volunteers leave, those old people will fall into loneliness again. Therefore, we came up with the idea of painting colorful pictures on the white walls to create a pleasant and sweet environment so that the elderly can be cheered up every day.” said Xiao Zhendong, person in charge of this activity.
Seeing the sunflowers with colorful bees flying among them on the wall, an old man said, “I feel like in a park.”
Students painted a total of 90 square meters of wall paintings during the day.
