The World Talk and award ceremony for the 1st World Agriculture Prize of Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for the Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) was held at the Agricultural University of Nanjing in Jiangsu on Oct 20. More than 100 experts and scholars from all over the world gathered in Nanjing to jointly discuss the education and innovation issues concerning agriculture and life sciences.

World Agriculture Prize was established by GCHERA with the purpose of commending those education or research personnel who have made outstanding contributions in the education, scientific research and achievement transformation and other aspects concerning agriculture and life sciences. Philippe Choquet, chairman of GCHERA, awarded the honor certificates to the winners, and Zhou Guanghong, president of the Agricultural University of Nanjing, awarded the trophies to the winners.

The experts from University of California-Davis, Massey University, Aarhus University, University of Sydney, University of Alberta, China Agricultural University and Agricultural University of Nanjing will also deliver keynote speeches and hold seminars about the topic of “Education and innovation in agriculture and life sciences – universities that serve entrepreneurs for sustainable development of countryside” at the World Talk forum of GCHERA.

Founded in 1998, GCHERA is a standing international agricultural education and research organization which adopts the system of board of directors. Its members include more than 600 colleges and universities in the world, as well as the scientific institutions that are affiliated to 15 countries and regions.
