One new human H7N9 case has been found in east China’s Jiangsu Province, the provincial health department confirmed on Tuesday.
The patient, a 59-year-old woman from Wuxi City, was confirmed on Monday night to have been infected. She is in a critical condition.
The patient bought two live chickens from a poultry market and cooked them before she became ill, according to a health department statement.
The new case brings the number of infections in the province this year to 9.
Another H7N9 patient died in Wuxi City early on Saturday morning, the first fatality in the province this year.
