Working staff in charge of international admissions from 15 American colleges and universities attended 2013 Spring American Education Fair on Mar 31.

Recruiting specialists of American universities came to Jiangsu in group with a generous scholarship of 9 million yuan (US$1.45 million). Rutgers Business School, ranking 68 among universities in America, opens a “green channel” for Jiangsu examinees, including SAT-free and lower requirement for TOEFL and IELTS scores.

However, the major concern of parents and examinees is obviously different. “I am concerned with school ranking as well as students make-up”, said a student’s parent. “How is the school’s infrastructure? How is the food? How is the playground? What activities can I participate?” asked Pan, a student of grade-2 in senior high school, at every information desk. “I like sports, especially basketball. One of the important reasons I choose American university is that it is convenient for watching live NBA!” said Pan with a smile.

In the exhibition, the majors students preferred to are finance and accounting in business studies, computer and electrical engineering in engineering courses, as well as media and education in liberal arts. According to statistics, 70 percent of Chinese students going abroad choose business studies.
