The Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University released List of Best Hospitals in China of 2012, and List of Most Prestigious Hospital Departments in China of 2012 on Nov 23.
Five hospitals in Jiangsu are listed as the top 100 hospitals of China. They are Jiangsu Provincial Hospital (20th), Drum Tower Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University Medical School (43rd), the First Hospital Affiliated to Suzhou University (50th), Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Area Command (56th), and Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University (89th). Among them, Jiangsu Provincial Hospital moved up 21 places compared to last year.
Efforts have made by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University to work out a hospital ranking standard suitable for China modeled on the hospital evaluation standards of the United States, according to Gao Xiechun, director of the Institute. A total of 1,359 experts from 28 branches of medical science were engaged in the evaluation which underlined the reputation and research ability of specialized departments of hospitals without regard to the size, equipment, and differences between departments, and is oriented by discipline construction and problem solving ability of miscellaneous diseases.
