The total number of Chinese students studying abroad and foreign students enrolled in China in 2012 reached 399,600 and 328,000 respectively, according to Work Conference on Chinese Government Scholarships for Foreign Students held in China Pharmaceutical University on Mar 21.
The number of foreign students enrolled in Jiangsu in recent years shows an average annual increase of 12 percent with 15 universities in the province enjoying government scholarship for foreign students, taking 7 percent of total number of China. There were 17,000 foreign students from 169 countries enrolled in Jiangsu last year, taking 5 percent of the national total. Foreign students from a total of 184 countries came to China for study last year, according to sources.
