On this Day in Chinese History; 9 October

This day, 9 October, in 1980, Deng Xiaoping met with a delegation from Panasonic, in order to introduce China’s policies for developing economic cooperation with countries around the world. He went on to explain that China would establish a special zone in Guangdong near Hong Kong so as to take advantage of its easy connectivity with the outside world.
