This day, 24 October, in 1995, the Chinese government held a commemorative conference and reception at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, during which Premier Li Peng said that China’s development will only enhance its ability to maintain world peace, while vowing also that China will never pose a threat to anyone or any country.
