This day, 22 November, in 1943, the Cairo Conference, attended by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Chinese President Chiang Kai-shek and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, was held in Egypt. There was issued the “Cairo Declaration”, with the aim of depriving Japan of everything it had won or occupied in the Pacific since 1914, returning to China territories such as Manchuria and Taiwan.
