The 2015 China-Australia Tourism Dialogue was held in Suzhou this week by the National Tourism Administration, the Ministry of Public Security, and Austrade, the Australian government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency.

Before the meeting, the Australian delegation visited tourist attractions in Suzhou, including the Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, and Tongli Town. They were impressed by the city’s heritages and scenery. Some said Suzhou is like the Venice of Asia.

The two sides exchanged views on the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in tourism, which contains policies for tourist visa, migrant workers and independent travelers and will be signed officially next year.

Zhang Xinhong, an official with the National Tourism Administration, said that about 600,000 Australians visit China each year and about 800,000 Chinese visit Australia every year. The dialogue is to make travel convenient for tourists of both countries.
