A special auction of artifacts from Changzhou was held in New York on July 15, local time in the US. A total of 42 out of the 98 artworks were sold at the auction with the turnover rate of 43 percent.

This is the first time that artifacts from Changzhou are being auctioned overseas. These art works include embroidery, Jintan paper-carvings, calligraphy and traditional Chinese paintings. Prior to the auction, they were on exhibition for three days in the Federal Hall National Memorial, attracting large crowds of audience.

The auction was filled with competitions, and prices continued to go up. Several buyers said that more people can learn about Changzhou through such activities.
