It is not often that a snooker match audience has the joy of witnessing the commonly considered maximum 147 break*. Even more rare is it occurring in a major tournament, while for it to happen in the final of such a tournament, the odds are in the thousands-to-one. Yet this is exactly what happened on 1st July at the Wuxi Classic tournament in our very own backyard, here in Jiangsu province.

The final was an all English showdown; Ricky Walden taking on Stuart Bingham. In the best of 19 match, Walden raced into a formidable 9 frames to 1 lead, enough to intimidate even the most seasoned player. Certainly, under such circumstances one could hardly imagine seeing anything more than little better than desperate efforts as a challenge.
