There are tragically far from enough vegetarian restaurants in Nanjing, although the health craze to have developed recently has provided reasons to be optimistic. One such example is Wujie Vegetarian, plush enough for its location on the sixth floor of Deji Plaza Phase 2 above the ice rink. Plush is also an apt description for the menu on which one will find a range of veggie fare unparralled in Nanjing, including Lentilliferma Seawood with Vinaigrette Dressing, Silken Toufu Salad with Almond and Walnut, Mountain Yam Rolls with Truffle and Cauliflower Mushroom with Daikon Sashimi. A tie in with Miss Ma macaroons (all natural, no artificial colouring or added preservatives) sees Wujie Vegetarian share an entranceway with the former’s shop and placing their tasty treats on the menu. Wujie Vegetarian also offers an interesting take on alcohol consumption, whereby those wishing to imbibe are requested to book a private dining room. Guests are also welcome to bring their own non-alcoholic drinks. By way of a price guide, Nanjing Expat had lunch for two comprising three dishes and two drinks of fresh juice for ¥240.
