This day, 9 January, 1965, Chairman Mao Zedong met with the American writer Edgar Snow, an old friend of China, and had a discussion on the world’s main contradictions, the Vietnam War, nuclear proliferation and the restoration of China’s lawful seat in the United Nations. Mao’s view was that the various forces of history will eventually bring the two peoples together again, a day without doubt to come.
