This day, 30 March, in 1973, the Chinese government appointed Huang Zhen as director of the Liaison Office in the United States. A participant in the Long March, after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Huang was transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as China’s ambassador to Hungary, Indonesia and France. From 1961 to 1964, he was Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
