This day, 24 June in 1960, at a meeting of representatives of 12 socialist countries held in Bucharest, Soviet Communist Party General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev from out of nowhere made serious accusations against the Communist Party of China. Such an open breaking down in relations between the two largest socialist countries in the world was to have a significant impact on the international political landscape.
