On this Day in Chinese History; 17 June

This day, 17 June, 1967, China detonated its first hydrogen bomb over the west of the country, while the government declared that China will not be the first to use nuclear weapons at any time and under any circumstances. It was further stated that the Chinese people and government will work towards a comprehensive ban on nuclear weapons and strive for the lofty goal of the complete elimination thereof.
