This day, 14 December, in 1963, Premier Zhou Enlai began his famous “Asia Africa 14 Country Tour”, visiting Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia, as well as Albania, Myanmar, Pakistan and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). The 72-day trip, covering a distance of 50,000 kilometres, had a far-reaching impact on enhancing the unity between China and all the countries concerned.
