This day, 11 December, in 1991, Premier Li Peng paid an official goodwill visit to India. Speaking with the Hindustan Times before leaving, Li said that in the then current volatile international situation, a heads of government meeting to enhance understanding and strengthen cooperation was not only in the interests of the two peoples, it would also have a positive impact on the situation in Asia and the world.
