Welcome to the exploration of culture in China. Face, connections, and changes, are all in the April issue of The Nanjinger, along with reminders of upcoming events. The magazine is now at all your favourite pick-up points.

Half measures are never an option in Nanjing’s public spaces. Xianlin Lake upgrading is continuing apace, with earth-moving machinery rumbling away all through the daylight hours. The shores are not just being reshaped and cleared of the huge swathes of water reeds, but they have even constructed a small island in one arm of the lake. The goal of some of the massive work is not yet clear, but we can look forward to a transformed environment. It is a fair bet that the amount of water area will be expanded. Perfectly manicured grounds will abound, and new facilities will arise. Watch this space for when you can easily wander around the new space (the hole in the fence has been closed).
