Colourful additions to our streets are the new hire bikes. With bright yellows, blues, and silver, and a prominent brand on the frame, these bicycles are parked on sidewalks waiting to be snapped up by people using an app. Rental is ¥1 per hour, and they can be picked up and dropped off anywhere, thus being more convenient than the orange public bikes.

The Wanda Mall at Xianlin is now a huge sprawling complex rearing about 40 levels into the sky, and dwarfing nearby developments and Xianlin Lake. The apartment towers are not very creative, so we can only hope that the commercial section is more attractive when completed.

And so we launch into the Year of the Fire Rooster. China grinds to a halt as family events take priority and countless businesses close their doors, some for a few days, and others for weeks.
