A wall in Wuxi recently became a hit on WeChat Moments.
The wood wall, 20 m long, is located at the east gate of the central park of Huazhuang Street, Wuxi, with varied clothing hanging up. Someone hangs clothing on the wall from time to time, while others take pieces of clothing away. At the corner of the wall, a small blackboard reads: “Take what you need freely.”
This is a “warm wall” activity initiated by a group of teachers. “At least 500 pieces of clothing have been taken away since Feb 2. We want to give others new year gifts and care for them in this special way,” said Zhu Yaqin, one of the initiators.
Nearby residents have donated a lot of clothes. Someone living far away even drive cars to donate clothes. A Taobao store owner has donated two bags of new children’s winter clothing.
“When the activity ends, the remaining clothes will be sent to impoverished mountainous areas,” added Zhu.
