With layered paper silhouettes, Yangzhou Lotus Bridge, Wanfu Bridge and Golden Avenue present under light and shadow. This masterpiece, “Yangzhou Light” made by Ding Qinglong, a Yangzhou paper silhouette craftsman, is highly praised.

Such paper silhouette, also called paper light box, is made from paper and light bar. Inspired by works of Hari, a foreign designer, Ding combined the concept of paper silhouette with architectures in Yangzhou, and made “Yangzhou Light”.

With a space pattern in mind, Ding made a plan first, and divided it into layers. Moreover, he should also consider lighting effects. The most difficult part is the lighting effects, according to Ding.

“Every layer should be luminous. Hence, a hole should be provided under each layer”, he added.

He made more than one revisions on layout design, and finalized after checking the effects, according to sources.

Ding made great efforts to develop various Yangzhou cultural creative works. “I didn’t expect that this ‘Yangzhou Light’ become so popular. This is just the initial achievement. I will combine more and better designs with scenic spots in Yangzhou, and make more local cultural creative works”, said Ding.
