A feature film on “British schools with Chinese characteristics” made by BBC triggered netizens’ discussion on Chinese and Britain education on Aug 4.

A group of British students was chosen to participate in one-month classes in Chinese education pattern. After the one month, they will take part in the subject test together with students receiving normal British education to judge which education pattern is more effective.

Li Aiyun, a teacher from Nanjing Foreign Language School (NFLS), attended this project. She worked as the headmaster of the “British school with Chinese characteristics” for one month. Li said that Chinese children are very normal because they are taught to obey disciplines and cultivated uniformly. But British students put more emphasis on personalization and have a sense of humor.

The one-month-long experiment mirrored conflicts and collisions and the educational differences between China and Britain, which is worth mutual learning.
