A series of inspections on in-use elevator safety hazard have been carried out in Nanjing in 2015, according to Nanjing Quality Supervision Bureau on July 27.
The recent two elevator-related injury cases have attracted wide attention from various sides. All escalators in shopping malls or subways are mounted with a red emergency button, and a moving escalator can be stopped by pushing this button in case of emergency. But nearly half of residents don’t know the function of the red emergency button, and most of those who know the button are young people, according to an investigation in various large shopping malls in Nanjing.
Relevant personnel from Nanjing Quality Supervision Bureau said that another special inspection will be carried out after the cause of the fatal escalator accident in Jingzhou of Hubei province, which occurred on July 26, is revealed.
