This day, 10 July, 1929, the Chinese Eastern Railway Incident broke out. On that day, Zhang Xueliang took over the jurisdiction of the Chinese Eastern Railway by force, dismissed the Soviet personnel from the railway management and deported them, arrested more than 200 Soviet personnel, and forcibly closed all Soviet diplomatic and commercial institutions in Haerbin.
