This day, 4 June, in 1961, the Pianma area occupied by Britain was returned to China. Stemming from a territorial dispute dating back to 1910, Premier Zhou Enlai said, “The Sino-Myanmar Boundary Treaty is a milestone in the further development of friendly and cooperative relations between China and Myanmar, … and a good example for resolving border issues and other disputes between Asian countries”.
