This day, 6 April, 1963, the first Chinese medical team departed by train for Algeria, fulfilling international humanitarian obligations. Since then, batches of Chinese medical teams have travelled far from their homeland and loved ones to work in difficult areas such as Africa, treating approximately 240 million people and forming deep friendships with the African people.
