This day, 10 March, in 1986, China officially became a member of the Asian Development Bank. A not-for profit organisation, the Bank has the aim of promoting socio-economic development and cooperation in the region and is jointly funded by member countries or regions. In 2003, former Vice Minister for Finance of China, Jin Liqun, was appointed as the Bank’s first Chinese Vice President.
