Jiangsu’s average annual growth rate of IDI (intellectual development index) in the past five years tops the country, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau on Jan 6.
The regional innovation capability of Jiangsu Province has topped the nation for five consecutive years. The newly-added patent of Jiangsu ranked first in the country for four consecutive years, enhancing Jiangsu’s strength in terms of the intellectual property rights.
The provincial government promulgated and implemented the Intellectual Property Strategy Outline of Jiangsu Province on Jan 5, 2009. In Feb that year, it signed with the State Intellectual Property Office a cooperation agreement to create a “Demonstration Province in Intellectual Property Strategy”. Jiangsu thus became the first demonstration province in the country. During the five years following the strategy, Jiangsu embraced rapid growth of intellectual property.
Over 600,000 pieces of business patents have been licensed in Jiangsu, ranking first in the country for four consecutive years. Jiangsu houses more than 400 pieces of well-known trademarks. According to the Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province, more than 3,500 enterprises in Jiangsu have been involved in the implementation of the standard. As a result, there has been significant improvement in the use of intellectual properties. The intellectual property has earned more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.653 billion) of loans for these enterprises.
