17 projects of Jiangsu listed in ‘973 Plan’

Jiangsu has 17 projects (including Major Scientific Research Program and Young Scientists Program) that are sponsored by China’s “973 Plan” – a program launched by Chinese government to push for the basic science research in higher education institutions – with a total fund of 270 million yuan ($44.47 million), according to the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province.

Jiangsu now has 84 chief scientists included in the “973 Plan”, leading the nation in terms of projects numbers and funds granted. Within two years since the establishment of Young Scientists Program under the “973 Plan” in 2012, 10 scientists from Jiangsu have been included into the program, topping the nation in numbers.
