Jiangsu will roll out new policies to boost the energy-saving and environment protection industry, and set the main business goal of this industry at 850 billion yuan ($139 billion) by 2015, said a press conference held by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government on Nov 28.
As a strategic emerging industry, the energy-saving and environment protection industry in Jiangsu achieved a main business income of 469.05 billion yuan ($76.9 billion) last year, topping other provinces. Jiangsu will adopt punitive electricity price for those enterprises and products that exceed the ceiling for energy consumption (power consumption) in the future. Sewage treatment fees will be collected in an all-round way at administrative towns based on the actual costs of pollution control. Jiangsu will also expand the official purchase of energy-saving and environment protection products. Such industries as public transportation and sanitation and the government agencies should take the lead in using new energy automobiles, and those who buy new energy vehicles will enjoy governmental subsidy with their newly-bought vehicles being granted license plate upon its purchase.
Jiangsu has also submitted a package plan on pilot region of new-energy vehicle subsidy to the State, which is expected to be approved in the near future, said insider of the provincial government. The pilot region covers Nanjing, Suzhou, Changzhou, Nantong and other cities, where new energy automobiles will first be used as buses and taxies, as well as official vehicles.
