This day, 5 January, in 1950, U.S. President Harry S. Truman issued a statement reaffirming previous international resolutions on the Taiwan issue, stating that he would not interfere in China’s internal affairs and confirming the principles towards China reiterated in the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 8 December, 1949.
