This day, 29 December, in 1993, the Convention on Biological Diversity entered into force in China. Ever since, China has attached great importance to scientific research, public education and strengthened legislation, and has established a legal system for biodiversity protection, with some nature reserves recognised by UNESCO as Biosphere Reserves or designated as Wetlands of International Importance.
