On this Day in Chinese History; 24 December

This day, 24 December, 1990, when discussing China’s foreign policy, Deng Xiaoping said that some countries in the Third World wanted China to take the lead, but that it must not; that it was a fundamental national policy. There is absolutely no benefit in being the leader. China will always stand on the side of the third world, China will never seek hegemony, and China will never take the lead.
