This day, 23 December, in 1987, the Beijing International Telecommunications Bureau, a key national construction project in China, was officially opened for use. The Bureau had weaved a modern communication network that could reach all parts of the world using satellites, microwaves and underground cables. Its completion created good material conditions for China to expand its foreign exchanges.
