This day, 9 December, 1942, Indian doctor Dwarkanath Kotnis passed away. To his outstanding contributions in enhancing the friendship between China and India, Mao Zedong said, “The army has lost a helping hand, the nation has lost a friend. Let us always bear in mind his internationalist spirit”. Kotnis’ statue stands with that of Norman Bethune in the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery in Shijiazhuang.
