AYG Village is ready to accommodate athletes and an opening ceremony for the village and a welcoming ceremony for Chinese AYG Delegation are expected on Aug 12, according to the Nanjing AYG Organizing Committee on Jul 31.
The Village, situated on the Jiangpu Campus of Nanjing University of Technology and composed of a residential area, an international area and a public area, will provide accommodation, dining, cultural and sports services for about 3,900 athletes and officials from 45 counties and regions. As for the residential area, 22 buildings that are made up of 900 apartments are geared up for service.
A program named “Asian Cultures Village” is prepared to showcase diversified cultures of 45 Asian countries and regions through Asian Culture Room. And four cultural performances themed “Youth Style” will be held to introduce Chinese culture to foreign youth through interactive games, magic shows, acrobatics, Beijing opera shows and leather-silhouette (or Piying) shows.
More than 1,500 volunteers from colleges and universities in Nanjing are also expected to report on duty on Aug 8.
