All the staff of Jiangsu Blood Center were convened for an urgent meeting before work on April 22. In this meeting, emergency plan, which was initiated for this earthquake, and other works related were briefed. All the medical personnel of blood collection are required to give up their weekends and extend the hours of work in order to make sure that the blood collected can meet the demand of quake-hit region.

“In order to reduce donors’ waiting time and ensure the high-quality of our service, all middle-level cadres and many staff workers scarified their holidays.” Sunjun, director of the blood center, told our reporter. “During the Wenchuan Earthquake, Jiangsu Blood Center delivered 200,000 ml of blood to quake-hit area. Our center now has 700,000 ml of blood and we are trying to store 1 million ml to help the quake-hit area on the condition that there’s enough clinical blood supply for Nanjing.”
