Jiangsu sets up degree for drivers

Jiangsu government issued Comments on Strengthening Traffic Safety (hereinafter referred to as the Comment) on Mar 31, in which the set-up of a driving major in automobile traffic technical schools was proposed.

Statistics show that 80 to 90 percent of safety accidents in Jiangsu are traffic accidents, in which bus accidents are often attributed to unqualified drivers. In response, the Comments proposed to set up driving majors in automobile traffic technical schools which recruit high school graduates to take three-year’s courses of driving degree.

At the same time, the Comments is going to incorporate trainings for existing bus drivers into vocational education system which requires the bus drivers to receive training for no less than half a year. The Comments also require passenger transportation enterprises to make skill assessment for bus drivers and differentiate their salaries accordingly.
