This day, 15 June, 1951, the first Sino-foreign joint venture of the People’s Republic of China was founded. The Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company, known as Chipolbrok, would move its headquarters from Tianjin to Shanghai in 1962 and remains operating today, having navigated some tough political and economic times as a flagship example of mutually beneficial co-operation.
